Do I need to an appointment to shop in your boutique?

Yes (for brides). Appointments are necessary to ensure that we can provide each of our clients with our undivided attention. The majority of what we sell is special order, and many items can be customized by Amanda-Lina's alteration staff. Having an appointment and working with one of our dedicated consultants allows you to be educated on all your options that our boutique has to offer. No (for bridesmaids, mother of bride and groom, and eveningwear). Come in anytime Monday to Saturday. Special note for bridesmaids: first come first served Monday to Saturday ONLY, NO bridesmaid service on Sunday. There is a 45-minute limit per bridesmaid group.

How do I book an appointment?

You can book your initial bridal gown consultation through our website by clicking “book an appointment" or you can call (905) 265-8707 and when prompted, press 2.

How long does it take to order bridesmaid dresses?

We strongly recommend that you order bridesmaid dresses at least five months before the wedding date. Some manufacturers do offer earlier delivery at an additional cost per dress. Please keep in mind that once the whole group has come in and taken their measurements, the order is then sent to the manufacturer. Bridesmaid orders placed separately or added on may be cut from a different bolt of fabric and vary in colour. Vendors can't standardize dye lots, so colours may vary from physical and only swatches.

What can I expect from my appointment?

Your gown consultant will last for an hour. Our bridal salon is open concept therefore you will be able to view various silhouettes. At this appointment you may show your consultant some pictures or discuss with her what you are looking for. Keep an open mind as our consultant will also make her suggestions on what styles would best suit your figure and beauty. We are always striving to bring in various styles that will make you look unique on your wedding day.

Can I book a private consultation appointment room?

You may book a private salon appointment as they are one and a half hour long and seating can accomodate up to six guests. The VIP appointment is separate from the open bridal salon concept. Therefore, it will only be you and your entourage. A small fee will apply.

Is there a limit to the number of guests that I can bring?

We understand that there are many special people in your life that want to be a part of this momentous decision, however too many opinions can be detrimental! Try to limit your guests to those who understand your personal style and the overall look and feel of your wedding so that they can assist you in selecting a gown that compliments both. There is comfortable seating for three guests and bringing more would make the seating uncomfortable for them. Bringing small children may also be a distraction from your appointment. 

What should I bring to my appointment?

You will be working with a dedicated stylist so feel free to bring any photos of gowns that you like. Amanda-Lina's stylist will be working closely with assisting you in and out of the wedding gown and we ask to please make sure to wear undergarments for hygienic purposes. These gowns are unlike any formal wear you have tried on and do require an expert to properly present the proper look.

When should I arrive for my appointment?

Please try to arrive 10-15 minutes before the time that your appointment is scheduled to allow for registration upon check in. We often have appointments immediately before your appointment and (especially weekends) may not be able to take you early. Furthermore, if you are late, this may also cut into your appoinment time. We also often have appointments immediately following yours (especially weekends) and therefore, we may not be able to extend your appoinment time due to a late arrival. We always try to do our best to accomodate all brides, however, some situations we may not be able to do so.

What sizes are available to try on?

Our bridal salon carries sizes from 6 to 24 in various styles from different designers. Please keep in mind that a style that you move may not be in the correct size you are looking for as we only carry one size per style. However, we would review to see if it would be available to order in your size.

What is the price range of your gowns?

Our collection includes a full range of designers and luxury brands. Gowns start at approximately $1200. The price range of each gown in our Gown Gallery is represented by $ symbols. Are photographs allowed?

Taking them throughout the appointment can be distracting and may not be the best use of your time. As we do have many exclusive sytles not available in other bridal stores, as well as being the first boutique in Ontario to showcase new gowns not yet out to the public, picutres are not allowed. Once you have decided on the gown to order or purchase, we recommend taking a picture of the gown on a hanger. Taking a picture of you in the gown may not be in the coulour or condition that the gown will be upon it's arrival. Also, the gown hasn't been professionally fit to your body, and therefore may not be lying exactly right.

When should I order my veil and/or headpiece?

Special order deisgner veils have a 4-6 month lead time, so deciding at the time you order your gown is helpful. You may also make a separate appointment later to finalize your accessories. Please do keep in mind that we do sell dresses from stock and therefore, the dress may not be available to try on to match accessories.

How far in advance do I need to buy my gown?

It's best to allow 6 to 10 months before you wedding to order a gown. This will allow you time for alterations.

What is a special-order gown?

Most of the gowns we sell are special-order if we don't have your size or colour in stock. Amanda-Lina's takes your measurements at the time of purchase to determine the manufacturers standard size, which is closest to your measurements by the manufacturer. Your gown is not custom made to your specific body measurements by the manufacturer. Rather, it's the Amanda-Lina's alteration staff who custom alter the manufacturer's gown to fit your body.

How do I pay for my gown?

We accept MasterCard, Visa, Interact, as well as cash and personal checks. (Personal checks are only accepted for deposit, not final payment.) If you are ordering a special-order gown, we require a 60% deposit at the time you order your gown. If you are buying a gown from stock, we require 100% payment and you must take the dress home with you that day.

What are the price ranges for your bridal gowns?

Our bridal gowns start at $1,200.00 but are frequently in the $1,5000 range or higher. 

When shall I schedule my first fitting?

We generally recommend starting the alterations for your wedding gown 8-10 weeks before your wedding day. Please keep in mind that these appointments must be scheduled in advance, as it is subject to availability.

How many fittings will I need?

Ususally, brides require 2-3 fittings to ensure a perfect look. Any gowns requiring custom changes will require extra fittings.

Do you offer in-house alterations?

We have in-house seastresses and offer alterations for bridal gowns, mother gowns, eveningwear and prom gowns. We do offer a referral service for bridesmaid gown alterations. Our standard alteration services for wedding gowns range from $395.00 to $695.00, and custom changes to the original style of the gown would be at an additional cost and would be quoted separately. Our seamstresses are bridal specialists and we can only accomodate a cetain number of bridal alterations per month. It is best to purchase your wedding gown in advance of your wedding, if you want to take advantage of our in-house alteration service.
