Buying the wedding dress is one of the most important steps in planning a wedding – and one of the most important purchases in the life of a lady as well. It is extremely important to buy your wedding gown in advance, especially because there are many steps when it comes to having it properly fit for the Big Day. If you want to know when to buy your gown and what are the most important steps on your “wedding dress timeline”, make sure to read on:

• Ideally, you should start thinking of your wedding dress with about 12 months before the wedding date. This will give you plenty of time to set a budget for the dress (and for the accessories, makeup and hair as well), to choose the wedding gown shopping entourage and to research potential designs too. As soon as you have all these things set up, you can start shopping for the one.
• With about 8 months before the wedding date you should already purchase your gown. Now, you don’t have to rush and settle for something just because the Big Day is approaching. But by this time, you should at least have a narrowed-down list of options.
• You should start shopping for undergarments, for shoes and for accessories with about 5 months before the wedding date. This will give you plenty of time to find something that truly suits your dress and your style.
• The first fitting usually takes place about 3 months before the wedding date, while the second fitting takes place with about 6-8 weeks before the Big Day. The last fitting takes place about 2-3 weeks before the wedding date (and by this time you should have already decided on your “Something Old, Something New, Something Borrowed, Something Blue” if you want to stick to this tradition).
