Whether you’re going all-out Gatsby or want a wartime vintage style, the color of your wedding dress can make a big impression. Here are a few reasons why you should look beyond white for your vintage style wedding gown.

An off-white tone such as ivory or bisque gives the impression of age and classic elegance. Other tones, including champagne and blush, are also great choices for this reason.
Another choice is to go for a silvery or golden tone. These give you the look of a silent film era movie star, and work wonderfully in a variety of lighting. They also look great in photos, and particularly lend themselves to artistic black and white photography.
Of course, one great reason to opt for an off-white tone is that these colors are often more flattering. Pure white really only works with a limited number of skin tones, while off-white shades can make you look even more beautiful on your special day.

It’s one of the celebrity weddings everyone has been waiting for, and it looks like the happy couple were able to keep almost everything under wraps. Actress Halle Berry and actor Olivier Martinez were married last week at a village church in Burgundy. The couple and their 60 guests stayed at the Chateau de Vallery.

The wedding itself is rumored to have been traditional, with a dinner, fireworks, and cake. One thing that hasn’t been made public is what the very pregnant Halle wore. However, one detail that has been leaked is that her dress featured a deeply plunging back.

Pay attention to what type of attire the couple have requested. If it isn’t specifically stated, don’t be afraid to ask.

A general rule of thumb for wedding guest attire is that it’s better to be overdressed than underdressed. However, if it isn’t a black-tie event, you shouldn’t show up in a gown. Opt instead for a great party dress.

Choosing Canada Day for their anniversary was the perfect touch for musicians Avril Lavigne and Chad Kroeger. Although their nuptials were held in France, the two Canadian stars kept their home country at heart.

The couple had hinted that there would be a theme for their wedding. The first photos they’ve released to Hello! have shown that they chose a Gothic theme.

For their wedding, held in a medieval castle near Cannes, they both wore all-black. Avril chose a black tulle gown by Monique Lhuillier, which she paired with a bouquet of black roses and a diamond headband. While Chad kept a clean-cut look, Avril did wear her trademark style of smudged eyeliner.

The couple’s wedding was small, but with 110 guests it certainly isn’t the smallest celebrity wedding of the year. There’s no word whether the guests also donned themed attire, but the party did last for three days!

If you’re looking for your own perfect dress, whether you like the Gothic style Avril wore this month or prefer the traditional style she chose for her first wedding, come by our Ontario bridal shop today!
