There are a few blog posts going around at the moment about brides who started their dress shopping very early. In fact, they started before their fiances had even popped the question! Is this great planning or a bit on the crazy side?
The benefit of shopping early is that when the proposal comes, you know exactly what you want. This means you can focus on other parts of the wedding planning. Women who shop early often say that the dress choice doesn’t have anything to do with their future husband, so there’s no reason to wait.
Of course, wedding dress shopping is a magical part of wedding preparation. Coming in to an Ontario bridal shop is often the first time a woman truly feels like a bride to be! Rushing that before the proposal can take away that joy. It does also have the potential of scaring your boyfriend!

If you want to wear the same dress Elizabeth Taylor wore for the first of her weddings, now is your chance. The pearl-encrusted satin gown is up for auction at Christie’s in London this week.
The dress itself was designed by costume designer Helen Rose for Taylor’s 1950 wedding to Conrad “Nicky” Hilton Jr. It is a satin gown and is encrusted with seed pearls. It also includes a built-in corset.
Taylor and Hilton’s wedding was considered one of the biggest social events of the era, with MGM saying it would have “more stars than there are heaven.” The wedding — and her dress — were photographed extensively.
Of course, all of this history comes with a big price tag. The auction estimate for the gown is £30,000 to £50,000 ($48,000 to $80,000).

Although their wedding day may have been put back by a few months while she recovered from a preventative double mastectomy, Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt haven’t stopped planning. The wedding, now set for mid-July, has also had a lot of input from the couple’s children.
While Angelina had originally thought of wearing a black maxi dress for an informal wedding, her kids insisted on a movie-style wedding. The result is that the bride will now be wearing a $400,000 gown designed by Saint Laurent creative director Hedi Slimane.
The final choice of dress wasn’t just a collaboration between bride and designer, though. Angelina’s daughters helped pick out the perfect design for their mom.
The couple’s exact wedding date won’t be made public — even the guests won’t find out until a few days before — but we’re looking forward to seeing what Angelina’s dress looks like.

If you’re thinking about eloping, it can be a great adventure. Whether you’re planning it as a romantic getaway or just don’t want the trouble of planning a big wedding in Ontario, elopement is becoming a more popular choice. One think you’ll still need, though, is the perfect wedding dress.
When you choose a dress for your elopement, you’ll want to think about many of the same things you’d prepare for a destination wedding. If you’re keeping the elopement a big secret, you won’t want to choose something that’s big and difficult to hide, for instance.
Of course, if you’re going a big distance, you’ll also want to consider the weather where you’re headed. If you’re jetting away for an island wedding, you might want something shorter.
An elopement is also a chance for you to break with tradition. Don’t feel like you have to go with a white gown for your big day. However, you’ll still want to find something that’s extra special for your wedding.
Before you head off to become man and wife, you need to get your dream dress from a great Ontario bridal shop. Come by or give us a call to find out what we offer.
When Breaking Bad star Aaron Paul married activist Lauren Parsekian last Sunday, all eyes were certainly on the bride. Lauren was wearing a stunning white gown that is already getting plenty of attention.
While the groom wore a traditional tux, Lauren wore a fabulous full-length gown by Kenneth Pool. The gown combined a strapless corset top with a full and flowing skirt, with floral accents to the lace and tulle. She paired the gown with white boots, though they haven’t been visible in the photos the couple have made public so far.
If you love Lauren’s wedding style, many designers offer similar choices. You don’t need to feel confined to white or ivory, either, as this type of ballgown is available in a wide variety of colors. If you aren’t sure if this look is right for your body, the best way to find out is to try it on!
